Music City Center Extends Food and Beverage Contract with Centerplate
MUSIC CITY CENTER EXTENDS FOOD AND BEVERAGE CONTRACT WITH CENTERPLATE
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Convention Center Authority voted this morning to extend its contract with Centerplate, food and beverage partner for the Music City Center.
Centerplate took over the food service for the Music City Center shortly before it opened in May 2013 and the initial five-year deal is set to expire in May 2018. The contract extension will add an additional three years to the original deal and will expire in May 2021.
“We knew when we opened this building that providing exceptional food and beverage service was of the utmost importance and our partnership with Centerplate has allowed us to do just that,” said Charles Starks, President/CEO of Music City Center. “Every Centerplate team member goes above and beyond to make the customer experience here unforgettable and we are proud to have them as a part of the Music City Center.”
The Convention Center Authority also announced that the Music City Center generated $57.9 million in direct economic for the city in the first two months of fiscal year 2018. The Music City Center hosted 43 events with 72,437 attendees in July and August, generating 45,225 room nights for a total of $57.9 million in direct economic impact. Tax collections continue to outperform expectations and the Music City Center portion of tax collections was up 18.11 percent year over year for fiscal year 2017. The Convention Center Authority also announced that the Music City Center achieved 47.27 percent DBE participation in fiscal year 2017, spending $3.3 million with minority, women-owned and small businesses.
